FREE Pak.xml (DIY Paks)

There are plenty of free (and paid for!) audio sample collections out there for you (e.g. Computer Music have loads in their SampleRadar hub). To help get you going in making your own and for use by 'Pro' users, we provide some free Pak.xml files for the collections referenced below.

It is very easy to create pak.xml files for samples that you have downloaded and then to make Paks for your own use in Wotja. See the Pak Maker section in the Wotja User Guide.

Sample Collections How to make your own Paks
  • Below are some links to 3rd party webpages with sample collections that they allow you to download from links in their pages (i.e. from their websites).
  • IMPORTANT: ALWAYS make sure you have the required rights to use in the way you want audio samples that you download (that is down to you).
  • We have made a 2 minute demo recording of a Wotja mix that references some of the audio samples; below that is a link to that mix file (should you be interested).
  • Tip: The mix file DOES NOT include the samples themselves - to hear it as intended you will first need to download the samples and make a Pak of them!

  • Download a zipped collection of audio samples, e.g. Music Radar's "SampleRadar Experimental Breaks" (see left).
  • Once downloaded, unzip that zip on your computer and it will expand into a folder called e.g. "Experimental breaks" (this one has 4 sub-folders).
  • Download the Pakxml.zip from the link below the audio samples and unzip that zip for the pak.xml file(s).
  • Move the pak.xml file(s) into the relevant sub-folders e.g. under the "Experimental breaks" folder.
  • Zip e.g. the "Experimental breaks" folder to create your zipped Pak.
  • Copy or move this zip into your Wotja folder (under a "zips" folder if you want) and then, when you know it is there, restart Wotja.
  • Download and check out the demo mix file (see how to Play from a file download).
  • Or, create a new Empty mix and add some audio samples to it
    • Tap on a Mix Cell and in the Template browser look in the LHS Pak list and you should see e.g. "Experimental breaks".
    • Tap a sample in the RHS list to preview it, and then add one to the mix where it will be time-stretched to match the tempo of the mix. Easy!

FAQ

How do I copy/move Paks into Wotja?

How do I use the Loop Paks in Wotja?

Follow the instructions to the right of the Pak table above - i.e. for "Template Paks" or "Audio Pak"

Note: You must first have an Audio Pak installed of course!

How do I share mixes referencing the content in these or other Paks?

The Paks on this page are not embedded in our apps so for people to hear in mixes the content that is in one of them they need to first download and install the relevant Paks (and this applies to any other Pak your mix may reference). Until they have the relevant Paks installed, content cells referencing any Audio (or MIDI) Loops in such Paks will show as red to indicate the content is not present.

See here for details on where to put Paks.

Why do the free Audio Pak audio loops load slowly on my device?

Some of the loops in the free Audio Paks are quite large and to be used they need to be decompressed into memory (they are in Ogg format in the Paks to make the paks as small as possible). This can take a few seconds depending on how many you use.

Can I use my own loops/content in Wotja without having to create a Pak?

If you want audio samples to be time stretched and pitch shifted to suit the mix tempo and root then you MUST create a properly formatted and zipped as an "Audio Pak", as per instructions in the Wotja Pak Maker section of the Wotja User Guide.

If you do not need them time stretched and pitch shifted then you do not need to includ a pak.xml file in the Pak.

Where do I find the Pak EULA?

You find it here.

Is there a FAQ on general licencing questions?

Yes, there is, and it is here.
