New generative music and lyric content engines released - Noatikl and Liptikl

First in New "Fluxer" Category for MIDI Controlled Generative hyperinstruments

United Kingdom, 9th December 2007: Intermorphic ltd., which creates tools for helping ideas flow, has released and made available for download its first two tools, a new generative music engine “Noatikl”, and a lyric generator “Liptikl”. The tools are available for both Windows and Mac macOS in a range of variants, from standalone to VSTi, AU, DXi and VST plugins.

Noatikl

Noatikl's primary role is to help musicians come up with new musical ideas, but it can also be used as a free-standing generative music system. It is a generative (MIDI) music engine that creates musical information in the form of MIDI notes, and that can also generate and send MIDI controller information to control settings of favourite synths, FX units and samplers.

Noatikl can be used to :

  • Generate new MIDI musical ideas
  • Generatively change synth, FX and sampler settings
  • Break composer's block
  • Augment an existing musical work
  • Create ambient sound tracks
  • Experiment with generative music systems
  • Noodle with music sculptures

Noatikl is available for both Windows and Mac macOS, and variants include plugin versions for e.g. Apple Logic (AU), Cakewalk Sonar (VSTi), Steinberg Cubase (VSTi), Ableton Live (AU, VSTi) etc. as well as a standalone version, very useful in its own right, and also for where there is no suitable plugin variant, e.g. Pro Tools. There is a growing and active Noatikl user community. The Intermorphic website has links to a number of tutorial videos and examples.

Prices range from $99 for a single version non-commercial licence, through to $189 for a commercial licence Suite which includes all variants for that OS, the Intermorphic store has full details. Academic pricing is available for Educational institutions. There is a full save 30 day trial version available for download from here.

Liptikl

Liptikl is tool that helps songwriters, poets, copywriters or any other kind of creative writer gain extra advantage. It is a lyric generator, and more broadly generator of word associations. It can be fed existing texts, poems, lyrics, ideas or words and then "mash" them up to create new options to select from. Cool words and phrases can be locked down & new options generated.

Liptikl can be used to :

  • Break writer's block
  • Generate interesting word associations
  • Kick start new lyrics / poems / copy writing
  • Find new directions and possibilities for existing lyrics
  • Have more fun with words and writing!

Liptikl is available for both Windows and Mac macOS, and is priced at $59 for a non-commercial licence to $99 for a commercial licence - see the Intermorphic store has full details. Academic pricing is available for Educational institutions. There is a full save 30 day trial version available for download from here.

About Intermorphic (press contact):

Intermorphic Ltd was co-founded in 2007 by Tim Cole and Pete Cole. It develops music creativity & relaxation ("creative relaxation") apps that use generative, text-to-music & cut-up techniques.

The Cole brothers ("the Coles") have a history in music software innovation: they co-founded SSEYO in 1990 and from then to 2001 they created and worked on the BAFTA Award-winning "SSEYO Koan Interactivity Platform" which included the "Generative Music" engine used by Brian Eno for his seminal 1996 "Generative Music 1". SSEYO Koan software was available for Windows, Mac and Windows Mobile and in a range of variants from Standalone to Audio Plugin to Web Browser Plugin.

Following Tao Group's acquisition of SSEYO in 2001, the Coles created the intent Sound System (iSS) and BAFTA Award-winning "SSEYO miniMIXA", one of the world's first mobile music mixers. In 2007 it released both "Noatikl: Generative Music Composer" (the evolution to SSEYO Koan) and "Liptikl: Cut-Up Text Writer". In Q2 2008 Intermorphic secured the IP rights to the iSS and SSEYO software and in December 2008 released "Mixtikl: Generative Music Mixer" followed in 2012 by "Tiklbox: Generative Music Player".

After many years of updates to the forgoing apps and after much deliberation on the next step forward for Generative Music, the Coles decided that it was "Reflective Music". And so in 2014 along came the first of the releases of the "Wotja®: Generative Music System", an all-in-one 'Creator, Mixer, Lab & Player'. By 2017 the key authoring capabilities of Noatikl, Mixtikl and Liptikl had been fully consolidated into Wotja for iOS and macOS, including the playlisting of Tiklbox.

February 2018 saw the first release of "Wotja X", a cross-platform UI variant that finally allowed Wotja to be available for all of Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. By 2019 this had become the cornerstone of all further Wotja apps, including the Wotja interface for TV. In 2021 Wotja for iOS/macOS became a single App ID and an AUv3 Audio Unit Plug-in was added, as well as support for Apple silicon.

In 2022 support for AUv3/VST3 Plug-in Hosting was added and a Wotja VST3 Plug-in was created in addition to a new "Euclidian" Generator Type. Ever since its first release Wotja and its WME (Music), WAE (Audio), WSE (Script) and WTE (Text) engines have continued to be extended with many new features and improvements.
